Design Urban, Space Syntax and Urbacity worked with the Hutt City Council to produce a spatial plan for the Naenae town centre. This was produced during the covid-19 pandemic yet still included a high level of community engagement, albeit virtual engagement. The spatial plan included strategies for economic recovery, improved access, increased community safety, a rationalisation of land uses and sites, and proposals for a new public swimming pool. A rationale for a new supermarket to anchor retail was also introduced as part of the spatial plan.
